After discovering a local Munich website, which has suggestions on everything from restaurants to shopping, I decided to check out one of her shopping recommendations entitled Kleidermarkt – Vintage Thrift. What originally intrigued me about it was the mention of Burberry Coats and Escada in her write up. So with flats on my feet and map in hand, I decided to venture over to Marienplatz to check it out. As I entered the three floor shop, I got an immediate headache due to the terrible musty odor and knew this was a bad idea. But I wanted to get the full experience, so I flipped through the racks and after about 30 minutes had to remove myself from this establishment. The only word I can use to describe this experience is “disappointing.” However, if we decide to ever organize an 80s or ugly Christmas Sweater Party, I will be returning here for our outfits.
The day was not a complete bust as I did stumble upon Butlers, which carries a wide variety of products for the home. From kitchen supplies to chandlers this store has it all and you do not have to make the hour trek to Ikea. Plus as the Christmas season is quickly approaching (Germany does not celebrate Halloween), the store is covered in holiday goods. Looking forward to bring mom to this place during her visit in November!
After a full day of shopping, I decided to check the toytown website when I got home and realized that the League of Accidental Hausfrauen (Housewives) is meeting for lunch tomorrow in Maxvorstadt. I placed my name on the list and definitely looking forward to having a little girl time.
wir vermissen euch alle – die Gauntletts
